http://www.siberiafilm.comIn its prime, the Hells Kitchen bar Siberia acted as the last strong hold of classic New York Bohemia. It was home to a myriad of characters from players in the media and local political powers to hipsters, gangsters, thugs, and society darlings. From its inception to closing, the bar, its owner, and its patrons fought for the bars survival in an increasingly gentrified New York. This is their story.
The documentary follows Siberia from its inception, originating in a subway station on fiftieth street with money loaned by the West Sides most influential power broker. The owner Tracy Westmoreland, as much a character as the bar itself, leads his cohorts of misfits through long shot scams, such as a filmed protest in Japan, and wild parties, which at times include smashing the entire bars liquor inventory against the wall for kicks, to one of the wildest, strangest, and eventually most criminal experiences in New York nightlife history.
