LIFE AFTER DARK: THE STORY OF SIBERIA BAR is a documentary by Jack Bryan produced by Nicholas Mele

In its prime, the Hell’s Kitchen bar Siberia acted as the last strong hold of classic New York Bohemia. It was home to a myriad of characters from players in the media and local political powers to hipsters, gangsters, thugs, and society darlings. From it’s inception to closing, the bar, its owner, and its patrons fought for the bar’s survival in an increasingly gentrified New York. This is their story.

The documentary follows Siberia from its inception, originating in a subway station on fiftieth street with money loaned by the West Side’s most influential power broker. The owner Tracy Westmoreland, as much a character as the bar itself, leads his cohorts of misfits through long shot scams, such as a filmed protest in Japan, and wild parties, which at times include smashing the entire bar’s liquor inventory against the wall for kicks, to one of the wildest, strangest, and eventually most criminal experiences in New York nightlife history.
